Meet Mattel’s New Barbie
For the first time in nearly 60 years, Mattel is creating a more diverse and all-new Barbie.
Barbie first jumped out of the toy box in 1959, making her world debut at the New York Toy Fair. Now, 57 years later, maker Mattel is releasing its most “made over” doll yet – a diverse series of all-new Barbie dolls with four body types, seven skin tones, 22 eye colors and 24 different hairstyles.
The changes go beyond Barbie’s physical appearance, too. Mattel’s new Barbie is exploring fresh career paths with themed products like “Spy Squad” Barbie, “Game Developer” Barbie and even “President & Vice President” Barbie.
